Northwest coast

Northwest coast

The northwest coast (Grand Baie, Pointe aux Pimentes, Baraclava, Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches and Pereybere) stretches from Port Louis in the south to Perelene in the north. This is the warmest coast, protected from southeast winds, especially in winter. The temperature here is always 2-3 degrees higher than in other parts of the island and it is always sunny.

The relief of the western coast is more diverse and is replete with alternating mountain ranges and green valleys with beautiful beaches – Tamarin , Wolmar , Flic en Flac . The beaches in the Flic-en-Flac area are simply magnificent, and there are more than forty interesting diving sites. Near Volmar there is a reserve of the same name (700 hectares), which protects representatives of the local fauna. Hiking, cycling and car tours are also organized here. Tamarind Baywilder, more pristine than the bays elsewhere on the coast. Due to strong currents, swimming here is not safe, but for surfers it is a paradise.

Morne Brabant is the westernmost tip of the island of Mauritius. This is an area of ​​amazingly beautiful landscapes, a luxurious lagoon, first-class beaches and exotic nature.

There are many interesting natural monuments in the western part of the island – the Makshabe relic forest ( Mahabi Belomb , the largest natural reserve in Mauritius ), the Black River Gorge National Park , Benitier Island , Tamarind Bay , Mount Morne Braban (550 m), as well as excellent areas for sea fishing. In the Riviera de Anguilles Park you can see crocodiles, giant tortoises, chameleons, monkeys and bats among the lush tropical vegetation.

East Coast

The east coast stretched from Perelen to Mahebourg . Surprises of nature await you here: the rocks abruptly give way to sandy beaches, and then again grow as if out of the ground. In the summer, from June to September, this is a real paradise for surfers, as it is during this period that the tropical southeast winds are especially strong, which makes it possible to catch a good wave.
